Looks like I’m about on time this afternoon, for a change! I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to write this evening because I had the Podiatrist coming at 04.30-ish, or thereabouts. Julian was just about to head off to do a bit of shopping, and I was busy with some graphics, when suddenly the doorbell rang – neither of us knew who’d be calling around this afternoon – and it was far too early for the Podiatrist, who’s usually late anyway! It was the Podiatrist, which I thought was rather neat – the sooner she started, the sooner she’d finish, and I’d be able to get on with this! It’s a shame she can’t arrive early every month! So anyway, my feet are looking vaguely human again, and feeling a lot more comfortable with half a ton of super gloop rubbed into them… unfortunately the super gloop doesn’t last terribly long because my feet just soak it all up like blotting paper! I’ve got absolutely terrible feet – they get so dry that it doesn’t really matter what sort of oil or moisturiser I put on them, or how often – because in less than ten minutes they’ll be looking like the exposed and dried up roots of Ghost Gums again! (and about as big!) However I can still say “thank heavens for small mercies!”, because there is one good side of having such abnormally dry feet – at least I never have to worry about having sweaty, smelly feet, shoes, or socks!
We slept in this morning – and who can blame us, after our 5.30 am start yesterday – and we both spent a quiet, relaxing sort of day. I continued trying to sort out and tidy up extraneous characters on seldom visited Realms, and finally got rid of a couple of characters on Realms that I’d probably never use again. I’d only been keeping them because they were Guild Mistresses, and it sort-of goes against all my instincts to destroy a Guild – even when there are no proper Guild Bank facilities – so my Wynterthyme Account went from having 48 of 50 playable characters, to 46 of 50 playable characters… and then I went and created another Warlock, which brought the tally up to 47 – but unfortunately I then realised that I’d created her on the wrong Realm! I’d wondered why I managed to get the name “Viverra” (a Civet Cat) so easily, because I’d thought I already had a character with that name on that Realm, and had only typed in “Viverra” as an idle “twiddle”, while I thought of other possible names! Well, it turned out that I wasn’t on the Realm that I’d thought I was on, so now I’m torn! Do I get rid of this “Viverra”, and try to re-create her on the right Realm, with a different name, or do I leave her there and use up yet another character slot, this time on the right Realm?! Ahhh… decisions! Decisions!
I tell you what though, going through those “old” characters was really a bit of an eye-opener! All of them were Hunters, of course, but nearly all of them still had ammunition bags or quivers, and… stacks of ammunition! Hunters on World of Warcraft haven’t had to use ammunition since 2010, and looking at the Guild stats, most of the Guild Members (mostly me, of course) on the Roster hadn’t logged on in eight (8!) years! (Winter shakes her head in disbelieving wonder at her flagrant neglect!)
Anyway, that’s about all I did today! I did go for my walk after lunch today, which I didn’t do yesterday. For about the first time ever, I actually forgot to yesterday! I was so intent on getting everything set up and organised to watch “Survivor: Australia” – was my phone within easy reach? And what about my lunch – did I have a cup of coffee, and a bowl and a knife for my mandarin ready? Then I just sat down, watched the show, ate my lunch, and forgot all about walking! I made up for it today though – I did my full twenty minutes, and upped the speed, from 4.2 kilometers per hour, to 4.4 kilometers per hour! So… now that you all know about how my day turned out, I can fill you all in on all the “good” bits! 🙂
Food stuffs. Last night for dinner we had pasta, with a rather nice Barilla Tomato and Basil sauce, and a good sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese, and for dessert I had one of my Corella pears, and an Apple Le Rice. For lunch today I had a sourdough sandwich, with sandwich-sliced smoked chicken, the yummy Cheddar/Tasty cheese that I like so much, chopped lettuce, and capers – I’ve never had capers before (well, I probably have had capers before because I can’t see how I could possibly have reached my age without having had them – I probably just didn’t notice them, or realise what they were!) Anyway, it was a very nice sandwich, and it appears that I do like capers, after all! 🙂 Tonight for dinner we’re doing a reprise of the beef, garlic and herb sausages that we had the other night, with chips, half a tomato, and either steamed green beans or Brussels sprouts, and with maybe some Beerenberg Hot Tomato Chutney, or a titch of the Nando’s Perinaise Dipping Sauce (Mild) in which to dip the chips! 😉 For dessert I think I’d better have the last yellow Nectarine, along with a Vaalia Lemon Creme yoghurt.
Weigh-in this morning. Well, it appears that yesterday’s shockingly early weigh-in wasn’t too far off the mark, after all! This morning I weighed in at 65.8 kg – only one point down on yesterday, and so well within that magical, mythical “Margin of Error”! Oh well, we’ll hop for better things tomorrow, seeing as how I did an extra fast walk today! 😉
Oh, I forgot to mention this earlier! Being a great fan of the Harry Potter stories an’ all, I had signed up to get regular news items from J. K. Rowling’s site, “Pottermore” – I haven’t been there for yonks, but this morning I got an email from them purporting to be able to tell me what sort of animal my “Patronus” was (if you’re not familiar with the Harry Potter stories, please feel free to skip this section of the blog because it would simply take too long to explain it all to you! Better still, visit the supplied link to Pottermore, and find out from Ms. J. K. herself! 🙂 ) The site itself has come about sixty million miles from when I last visited it, and it’s well worth a look, even if you’re not into all things mystical, magical, and fantastic – it;s really a well thought out, and well done site! Anyway, I answered all the questions as truthfully and as honestly as I could, and it turns out that my “Patronus” is the Grey Squirrel! I also had to re-join the Pottermore site, and pretty much start over, as the site has changed so much since I first visited it that it no longer recognises any of the old commands, passwords and email addresses – so I even went and got myself “sorted” into a School House by the Sorting Hat, which put me in Ravenclaw! I have a Siamese Cat for a pet, and my Wand is made of Hard Elm, with a core of Unicorn hair – so there ya go! That’s me all sorted out for another term at Hogwarts – and to all of you who skipped most of that last bit of – you can come back now and start reading again, as I’ve finished with the Fantasy aside for the nonce! 🙂
And that, gentle readers, brings me full circle and back to tomorrow’s outlook again! I have really no idea what’s happening tomorrow, but I do know that Julian will be off on an expedition to buy all the ingredients to try making a “Lamb Korma” – his very first foray into Indian Cooking – or curries, anyway! Also tomorrow morning, I’m going to be breaking my usual breakfast regimen by having toast, for a change! Toasted sourdough toast! With some of the delicious-looking Cumquat marmalade that the Vampire Nurse (that’s the Nurse who takes my Warfarin blood samples – I don’t think she’s really a Vampire though!) gave us! I’ve been dying to try it! I’ll let you all know what it’s like, because I believe it’s quite easy to make in the microwave, and if it is any good, I might try making some myself! 🙂 And that’s really about “it” from me for this evening – but do drop in again tomorrow night to find out what the Cumquat marmalade was like, and if I’m going to make any myself as soon as I can find some Cumquats, what my weight surprised me with, and whether it was a good or a bad surprise, and anything else remotely interesting or exciting that we might have got up to during the day! Until then however, do try very hard to bee good, don’t forget that talk doesn’t cook the rice, and remember to always drive carefully, to look after yourself, and to keep warm and dry, especially if you’re out watching the football this weekend… but above all, please… remember to stay safe! 🙂 ciao, all! 🙂
