Winter’s log, earthdate 201605.03

05.59 pm

OK, yes, I am a bit late this evening, but that’s because my very favourite eldest daughter’s been over today, and as she was leaving I was starting to work on the colours and the header for this particular blog Template – it’s an older one that I bought some time ago, and because it’s been one of the better ones I thought I’d give it another go. It’s got a fairly wide text column, though not as wide as I’d like – unfortunately, I can’t tell what the font or header sizes are like until I actually publish what I’ve written! I can look at yesterday’s blog, and that looks alright, but I changed fonts for this one, so who know what it’ll look like when I’ve finished! I might still need to do a bit of tweaking with things like fonts, headers, and so forth. Anyway – here’s the latest “burnt offering”, so to speak – I’ve been trying to capture more “Autumnal” colours – not terribly successfully, I fear, because oranges and reds can be a little bit… “harsh”, when there’s a lot of it on the page – so I’ve settled for a more toned-down “Indian Summer” effect – has it worked? (Winter looks anxiously at the screen)

While my favourite eldest daughter was over, naturally we retired fairly rapidly to the lounge room to watch our favourite shows – as I think I said last night – there was no “Supergirl”, because the last episode of that which we watched last week was a right doozy of a cliff-hanger, being the season finale, but we had one episode of “The 100”, where things are not going at all well for our young (and not quite so young) heroes and heroines – I can’t wait until next week to see what happens next! We also had one episode of “Orphan Black”, which is also starting to get very dark and “edgy” – and we’re only into the first couple of episodes of the new season! One shudders to think what they’ll be doing, and/or using, for the “de rigueur” end of the season cliff-hanger! After that, we watched alternating episodes of “Arrow”, and “Flash”, which are both getting quite tortuous, and which involved quite a bit of nail-biting by the two of us, plus the holding up of pillows in front of our eyes because we couldn’t bear to watch all the mayhem and strife – well actually, I think it was only me that was hiding behind pillows, and my cupped hands, whilst peeking out to see what was happening, and then ducking back to the safety of the pillows or hands again, when things got a bit too hectic! (I’m a very devout coward – my favourite eldest daughter is a lot much more braver than I am! 😉 ) That took us to about 05.20 pm, Lee started putting on her shoes again in preparation for her journey home, and I came in here and started looking for semi-decent “Autumnal” type colours – and so, here I am!

And now for the good bits! 😉

Food stuffz: last night we had a beautiful little piece of fillet steak, which we bought from Woolworth’s (Winter starts singing, quite a lot off-key: “Woolworth’s, the fresh food people…” only of course, they’re not really, are they!) I have to confess that the quality of the meat from Woolworth’s is not nearly as good as the quality of meat from their big bad rivals, Coles – but it was still lovely steak! Pan fried, with chips, steamed green beans, and half a store-bought tomato. For dessert, I had one big, delicious date, one of my Corella pears, and a slice of Julian’s cake. For lunch today I had a very yummy wrap, with the delicious basil-pesto hummus, sliced sandwich ham, Halloumi cheese, and batons of crisp and crunchy cucumbers and fresh red capsicum – a very excellent luncheon! Tonight for dinner we’re having beef sausages, with mashed potatoes, some sort of green vegetable (probably green beans?) and the almost always present half a tomato. For dessert tonight I think I’ll have a dried fig, a slice of cake, and a low-fat fruit yoghurt.

Weigh-in this morning. *sigh* It looks like I’m back on the swings and roundabouts, or maybe I should just call it “The Good Old Yo-Yo Trail”! Because I went back up again this morning, didn’t I – from 63.8kg yesterday morning, to 64.2kg this morning! Mind you, that’s most likely the fluid-retaining pills starting to kick in – so I refuse to worry too much about any weight gains for the next 10 days, plus one week – until I’ve finished this course of the horrible, weight-gaining pills, and been off them for about a week. Then, if I stay up too much, I’ll start to worry!

Almost time for dinner – I’ll finish this off later this evening! 🙂

09.33 pm

Here I am, back again! Well, having told you all about the “interesting” bits, I suppose I can spend a few lines to tell you all how absolutely thrilling it is for not only Wynterthyme to be able to fly in Draenor now, but also her junior siblings, Arisnoë and Sylvänas, because one of the rewards for doing all the hard work of completing quests and gaining Reputation, is that all your other alts, regardless of what they’ve done (or not done) or the Reputation they have, or don’t have, with anyone, will also be able to fly in Draenor, gratis! 🙂 So this morning I took Arisnoë off to do a few quests, and it’s sooo much more easier to get to places, and get in to pick up treasures, by “bird-back”! 🙂 I’m looking forward to having more time to get her up to level 98 (she dinged 97 this morning! 🙂 ) however, tomorrow I believe we’re going to look at fish tanks – the little tank that Auric and Dapple are currently in was only ever supposed to be a temporary holding tank while we fixed up their mud puddle – but now that we’ve decided not to put them back outside, they’ll have to have a “proper” Fish House inside. I’ll let you all know how the “Fish House-hunting” goes tomorrow night! And now, it’s the time of night where I usually turn around and say “and that’s about it from me for this evening!” – so – that’s about it from me for this evening! 😉 Do call in again tomorrow night to find out if my weight is still going up (oh, I hope not – but I’ll be quite resigned to it if it does – bloody pills! 😦 ) whether Arisnoë has reached level 98, now that she can get into places that she never could before, and if Auric and Dapple have a new Fish House to live in, once we get it all set up for them. In the meantime, do try to bee good, remember that it’s not a terrible thing that we feel fear when faced with the unknown, it’s part of being alive, something that we all share – and don’t forget to keep warm and dry in this wild and wet Melbourne weather, to always drive carefully, and to look after yourselves – but above all, please don’t forget to stay safe! 🙂 ciao, all! 🙂

06.45 pm

OK, well, here I go – a quarter of an hour before the news and dinner! Talk about cutting it fine! We’ve been out most of today – we didn’t actually get to go looking at fish tanks and fishes today – because the doctor’s appointment was at 12.50 pm, it sort of cut the day right in half, so we contented ourselves with going to Doncaster (of all places!) because we had to get coffee, and pick up the Dry Cleaning (damn Daisy for only having two establishments! One in [censored] Port Melbourne, and one in Doncaster!)(and damn Nespresso for not having an outlet at The Glen, too!) so anyway, we went over to Doncaster and had lunch at The Shingle Inn – I’m rather partial to their BLT’s on Sourdough Bread, and their little cakes (which used to be called “Slimming Biscuits” when I was a teenager – because they’re not! (slimming)) are simply delicious… their coffee isn’t bad, either… I had to stop off at David Jones to get some waterproof mascara, and we needed to get some more Flipper Food from Woolworth’s, so we were there quite a while.

And I have some really good news for you all! 🙂 Tonight – in Draenor – I fly! Yes, I have less than half a bubble to go to get my “Revered” Reputation with my last Faction – The Order of the Awakened – and then I too, shall be able to soar through the skies of Draenor! I’m quite chuffed, actually! 🙂

11.33 pm

I can fly! 🙂 I can fly! 🙂 Izz wunnerfull! 🙂 Yanno, this might make Farming fun! Julian says you can go around harvesting trees without landing and getting off your (whatever you’re flying on at the time! At the moment I’m riding a lovely Golden Cloud Serpent I got in Pandaria! 🙂 )

But enough of my euphoria! I know you wanna know everything about yesterday and stuff – right? Well yesterday, Sunday, we spent most of our time in Draenor getting geared and psyched up to go Reputation Farming once the Dailies had re-set (they re-set every night at about 9 – 9.30 pm) and after lunch, we did (most of) Ahn’Qiraj – I think we died once, but neither of us can remember how or why (Julian thinks it was because we fell from somewhere very high – though that’s something we usually saved for Draenor, before we could fly!) We’ll have to go back there next Sunday because we haven’t finished getting all the bits and pieces we had to get – stone idols, and the like! By the time we finished that, it was right on dinner time, and then of course, after dinner, I was fretting to get back to earning my Reputation – which I finally achieved tonight! Yayyy! 🙂

I told Dr. B. about my sore arm today – she seemed to think that it might be Polymyalgia – which I hope to goodness it’s not! Not that there’s much that can be done about it, anyway, except for pain killers – wot I’m already taking for my arthritis – and a much more general “put up with it and shut up about it” – and that doesn’t sound like me at all! 😉 (if I didn’t have something to complain about, I’d be really upset and miserable, so I’d probably complain about that instead! *saccharine smile*) The long and short of it is that if it’s not better in a fortnight, she’s sending me off for blood tests! :/ I hope it’s better by then… I’m allergic to blood tests – and anyway, I need all my blood – just in case! 😉

Food stuffz: yesterday for lunch I had a lovely roast beef and relish sandwich, made with the extremely nice Baker’s Delight whole-meal bread with the sesame seeded crust, and of course, last night being Sunday night, we had omelets for dinner. We had bacon and chopped fried onion in it this time, as well as the usual Halloumi cheese, chopped tomato, and chopped green capsicum – and Julian made them slightly differently – instead of chopping the bacon and Halloumi into the usual little bits, he left most of it in bigger pieces for a change, and fried the cheese, onion, and bacon first, before adding the rest of the egg-y “mixture” – the resulting omelet was extremely nice, and I hope he employs that method again next Sunday night! For dessert I had a piece of cake, a beautiful big, fat (alright, “plump”!) almost juicy, date, and one of my Corella pears. Today for lunch I had my usual Shingle Inn BLT on Sourdough, and a delicious little cakey afterwards, with a long black coffee and a small jug of skinny milk. Extremely nice lunch, that! 🙂 For dinner I had a lovely little piece of fillet steak, with chips, green beans, and the usual half a store-bought tomato. For dessert, I had a slice of cake, another date, which was delicious, and one of my Corella pears.

Weigh-in yesterday morning. Was not pleasant! I went up – from 64.0kg to 64.2kg! I was most put out, because I hadn’t even started to take those ‘orrible little fluid-retaining pills yet! (I actually took my first one about half an hour later, after I’d finished my morning treadmilling!) I was seriously starting to think “Optifast” again! It’s really rather creepy and nasty, the way my weight plays these sorts of mean tricks on poor little me, because…

Weigh-in this morning. Was a completely different story! This morning I went from 64.2kg to 63.8kg – go figure, coz I certainly can’t! I really do believe that my wretched body enjoys teasing and tormenting me, like that! 😦 Talk about a yo-yo for a body! :/

And so to tomorrow – my very favourite eldest daughter will be over, and we’ll probably watch – not “Supergirl” – I think the last one we watched was the season final – or was that “The 100”? I fergit! However there should be another “Orphan Black” (it really is a great show!) and of course there’s always “Arrow”, and “Flash”, both of which are starting to get quite exciting. I’m hoping to be able to go and have a look at fish tanks on Wednesday, and possibly something on which to put the fish tank, and to find out a bit more about introducing new fishes to Auric and Dapple (both of whom were quite hungry this evening as I wasn’t here to feed them at lunch time, poor little babies!) They’re doing much better now that they’re out of that hideously filthy mud puddle under the water feature – which is now looking very clean and healthy, except that I noticed it had a whole lot of dead leaves floating in it this afternoon – methinks we’ll have to use the net to fish them out before they start rotting in there again… Anyway, that’s about it from me for this evening – ’tis now 12.36 am, and I think Julian is getting a little impatient for me to finish up. Do drop in again tomorrow night – there’s really heaps more to tell you, but once again I’ve run out of time – but you’ll be able to catch up on all of it tomorrow night 🙂 In the meantime, please try to bee good, don’t forget to learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow – the important thing is not to stop questioning, and remember to look after yourselves, to keep warm and dry in this changeable weather, and to always drive carefully – but above all, please remember to stay safe! 🙂 ciao, all! 🙂
